I’ve spent all day thinking about writing about Scotch and Oryx and everyone asking Scotch why he wears his sunglasses all the time, but have I actually written anything down?
Of course not.
The majority of the Toibins are named after some kind of alcoholic drink. It became a family tradition.
Vodka is kind of like an uncle to Whiskey, Scotch, Tonic, and Gin.

I can’t remember why she left.

And I can’t help but think that her name had something to do with the fact that I have a family full of characters named after alcoholic drinks.
And then couldn’t think of anything else. :/
Scotch, what do you do when you’re not working?
I wish I could remember more about my first imaginary friend. I wonder if she left because someone else needed her around.
I think I’m going to ask my family about her. All I remember clearly is that she went by Margarita.
Obviously, this set some sort of precedent for names.
Scotch was collected in an odd way. He showed up in this weird dream I had the night I’d gotten my tree of life necklace.
He was laying on the couch with two other faeries and being smug when whatever spell-thing we were reading had no affect on them. I remember details - like how I threw legos at him and how he was wearing those checkered vans.
I liked how he was skeptical and logical and kind of bitchy.
And that was the beginning of the Toibins and alcoholic names.
So they’re a family in a story about vampire-faeries and werewolf-pixies that I’m writing with my friend.
The important thing to know is that they’re all named after alcohol/alcohol-related things. And they’re crazy.
Climbing onto the back of Whiskey’s bike, Scotch considers the situation. His gaze wanders to the injured vamery sitting in the motorcycle’s sidecar, and he knows that he’s accidentally gotten himself involved in something important - something bigger than his bar or Whiskey’s bookstore. He adjusts his sunglasses as he tugs on the helmet, remembering the last time his family was involved in the turf wars.
